Who We Are

The æternity Crypto Foundation is a non-profit organization established in the Principality of Liechtenstein. The Foundation brings together all the necessary resources and infrastructure to ensure a stable environment and thriving open source ecosystem around the æternity blockchain.

The organization is committed to promoting technical excellence and user-friendly applications as well as supporting projects built on the æternity blockchain.

Dr. Lydia Atanassova portrait

Dr. Lydia Atanassova

Member of the Board

Lydia is a mathematician and a computer scientist. More than 20 Years she was working as an Architect, Project Owner, Project Leader and Developer. Lydia was designing and building reporting, accounting and billing applications based on the principles of a Service-Oriented Architecture and the JAVA technology. Lydia is inspired by the block change technology and looking forward to see the new challenging applications running on the æternity platform.

Member of the Board

Sascha’s background is in wealth management, private equity investment, and cross-border wealth structuring. His role in the æternity Crypto Foundation combines his wealth of experience, his passion for philanthropy and his advocacy for blockchain technology. Born and raised in Liechtenstein and educated in Switzerland, Sascha established a wide network of connections throughout his career, and is thrilled to support æternity expand and spread its vision worldwide.

Lale Mahrt

Accounting Manager

Lale joined the team with a high level of interest in supporting the Aeternity Crypto Foundation in their important role in pioneering blockchain technology and its surrounding systems. Working in the field of accounting for a blockchain project creates interesting new tasks and challenges. With her bilateral experience, she is a great fit to support the mission. In August 2019 she finished her Marketing-Communications apprenticeship in a renowned, Berlin-based accounting company. Previously she supported various start-ups as an online marketing- and accounting manager.

Dimitar Ivanov

Core developer

Dimitar has been involved in aeternity since September 2017. He has actively contributed to the design, development, and optimization of the Aeternity platform, playing a pivotal role in shaping its technological advancements and ensuring its stability and security. He comes with a comprehensive understanding of decentralized systems, consensus algorithms, and cryptographic principles, combined with a passion for driving innovation in the blockchain space.

Sean Hinde portrait

Sean Hinde

Core developer

Sean is an experienced developer with a background in telecom, banking and blockchain. He has worked with Erlang for many years. He was previously a founder and CTO of Teclo Networks, building high speed software networking stacks.

Sean joined the Aeternity core team in 2021 and has worked on a range of features including the Rosetta API for exchange integration, and Hyperchains.

Ulf Wiger portrait

Ulf Wiger

Core developer

Ulf Wiger has been using Erlang since 1992, bought the first-ever commercial license in 1993 and has been a full-time Erlang dev since 1996. While at Ericsson, he became something of an Erlang ambassadeur, speaking about the AXD 301 ATM Switch/Media Gateway and about how Erlang works in large industrial projects. After leaving Ericsson, Ulf joined Erlang Solutions as CTO. He then entered the Connected Device market first via the startup Feuerlabs, then as a freelance contractor to Jaguar Land Rover, and Lead Developer of GENIVI’s Remote Vehicle Interaction component.

Ulf joined the Aeternity Core Team in 2017 and is now busy exploring and developing blockchain technology. In the Open Source arena, Ulf is perhaps best known for components like Gproc, Jobs, and Exometer.

In his spare time, Ulf doubles as an opera singer and dabbles in politics.

Justin Mitchell portrait

Justin Mitchell

Core developer

Justin Mitchell has worked in low latency systems in traditional finance for over 20 years, of which, the last 15 years has been in systems developed in Erlang. Justin has now switched to blockchain technology and is working in the core.

Hans Svensson portrait

Hans Svensson

Core / Tooling

Hans has been involved in aeternity since november 2017, having contributed to virtually all parts of the core node (consensus, proof-of-work, oracles, naming system, contract transactions, generalized accounts, cryptography, AEVM, FATE) as well as being deeply involved in the development of the smart contract language Sophia and its compiler.

Hans has a PhD in Computer Science (topic - Testing and Verification of Erlang programs) from 2008 and has almost 20 years of experience developing software in Erlang.

Hans posted the first ever transaction on the aeternity mainnet on November 27th, 2018.

Craig Everett portrait

Craig Everett

Core / Tooling

Craig joined the team from Japan in 2020 and has been contributing to the Aeternity core, developed tooling and libraries for interfacing with the blockchain, and has also been working on commercial projects that use Aeternity as a payment system. His professional history is quite varied, with experience spanning US Army Special Forces, strategic intelligence and training services, as well as software development in video games, streaming services, databases and business software.

Peter Harpending

Core / Tooling

Peter first started using Aeternity in early 2022 as part of a commercial project. He came to believe that Aeternity is by far the easiest and most robust electronic payment solution for the majority of commercial use cases. Peter now works on tooling, libraries, and documentation, with the goal of improving the overall quality of life for both end-users and developers interacting with Aeternity. Peter has a background in pure mathematics and functional programming.

Radosław Rowicki portrait

Radosław Rowicki

Core / Tooling

Radek has been contributing to æternity since 2019, taking care of smart contract infrastructure of the blockchain. He oversees development of the Sophia language, its compiler and low level tooling such as REPL and the debugger. He is also responsible for maintenance of the FATE virtual machine.

In 2021, he defended his master's thesis about application of advanced type systems in Sophia. Currently he is pursuing a PhD in software verification and distributed systems. He is passionate about languages, type theory, logic and compiler construction.

Gaith Hallak portrait

Gaith Hallak

Core / Tooling

Gaith is the driving force behind the Sophia compiler’s development and maintenance since the summer of 2021. His notable contribution includes introducing the Sophia debugger as part of the Sophia REPL. Gaith is passionate about documenting and rigorously testing open-source software, emphasizing high-quality, and easily understandable code.

Jarvis Carroll portrait

Jarvis Carroll

Core / Tooling

Jarvis has experience in high performance programming, including work with the real-time neuroscience hardware used by the Australian startup Cortical Labs. He also has education in pure mathematics and programming languages through his bachelor of science, including an original research project into novel paradigms in quantum computation for which he earned First Class Honours. Since 2023 he has started working with the Aeternity Crypto Foundation to contribute to tooling and automatic optimization for the Sophia smart contract language, so that contract programmers can further benefit from the performance of Aeternity's cutting edge FATE virtual machine.

Middleware developer

With over two decades in software engineering, Rogerio has honed his skills in developing scalable and fault-tolerant systems. He contributes to the Aeternity Middleware with this focus while extending the availability of aggregated data specially in regards to fungible and non fungible tokens.

Middleware developer

Based in Montevideo, Sebastian is a Full Stack Engineer maintaining the AEternity Middleware project. He holds a degree in computer theory and has also served as an instructor in functional programming, compilers, and formal proofs courses. In addition to his academic accomplishments, Sebastian has experience in creating scalable applications and software infrastructure, primarily employing Erlang and Elixir. He is involved in various stages of the development process, including design, architecture, team management and construction.

Denis Davidyuk, a skilled JavaScript developer, has significantly impacted the æternity ecosystem through his contributions to key projects. Metin is an experienced software architect and full-stack developer who joined the team in 2022. He has contributed to the development of various UIs and tools for the æternity ecosystem, including the Hyperchains staking UI, and the Hyperchains starter kit.

Metin has experience with all kinds of technologies and programming languages, incl. Rust, TypeScript/JavaScript, Erlang/Elixir, OCaml, Docker, Kubernetes.

Rumyana joined the team in 2023 and started working on various projects, including the Hyperchains UI and the Delegated signing UI.

She has a diverse background with roles such as team and project management, documentation development, and full-stack development across various technologies, and she just now starts venturing into the realm of blockchain technology and smart contracts, embracing a new learning journey.
